Had the pleasure of reimagining “Molten” by Blue Ringed Baby + Kami for their upcoming album on Goddezz. Took me back to the headspace I was in while making ‘Flux’ in 1997-98. Give it a listen!
Shimmering breaks, weightless motion, glitched sparks of melody, lightness and transcendence… with Molten featuring inspirations and production from close collaborator of the duo bbsanii, the release is also accompanied by a rare remix from Love Spirals Downwards, the seminal 90s ethereal wave and dream-pop band whose work helped define an era of ambient electronica, jungle and atmospheric soundscapes. Their reimagining of “molten” drifts into lounge-inspired bliss, with dreamy guitars and a laid-back rhythmic sway.

Early feedback on the remix via FatDrop is super positive, with NTS host RuF Dug saying, “Molten is gorgeous,” and Synkro calling it “Amazing!” Shai FM joked “Sooo good. I did not have a Love Spirals Downwards remix on my bingo card for this year,” and Stegi Radio’s Pink.wav playfully noted, “trip hop and downtempo are having a moment and we are here for it.”
Lovespirals’ new single, “Not Myself,” is a nostalgic nod to the band’s early millennium chillout sound. In contrast to the darker and more despairing vibe of “Noumenon,” “Not Myself” invites quiet meditation with its minimalist lyrics that exploring themes of self-identity, set against dreamy, slightly jazzy yet ambient soundscapes and soft beats. The perfect soundtrack for late summer moving into early autumn.
