Joe of drunkrockers.com caught a few shots of Ryan and Anji of Lovespirals at the Club Violaine 5 Year Anniversary party with formers members of The Von Trapps Nick Marshall, Rodney Rodriguez, and Matt Gleason. Rodney and Matt both played with Melodyguild for a time, and Matt is featured on the Aitu release. You can see the full set of photos from the show in the DrunkRockers Violaine Archive.
The long awaited debut album by Melodyguild — the band of former Love Spirals Downwards’ vocalist, Suzanne Perry — has finally been released. The ‘Aitu’ EP — originally announced in early 2003 — will officially drop June 10th, but it’s available online now via Projekt. This 4-song digipac CD is currently #6 on the Projekt Top 10 – congrats!
Love Spirals Downwards’ former singer, Suzanne Perry, appears on one track from the latest Falling You album, Human. “An Angel Ameliorate” is an ambient piece featuring Suzy’s glossolalia vocal stylings. To the best of my knowledge, this is her first released work since Melodyguild’s cover of “Sally’s Song” on the Projekt Holiday Single 2. You can check out the track for free from Magnatune here.
Suzanne’s band, Melodyguild — spelled here as Melody Guild — were interviewed for the Winter 2004 issue of Gothic Beauty. You can find print copies of this magazine in gothic leaning stores or pick up a digital copy of Gothic Beauty Issue 15 from the zinetastic site.
Projekt just released a limited edition Maxi CD in their popular Excelsis series entitled Holiday Single 2. The Projekt website describes it as:
Limited edition of 1000! The companion to Holiday Single 1 presents more splendid music to get you in the winter mood! It features the recording debut of melodyguild, the new band from Love Spirals Downwards vocalist Suzanne Perry (doing a cover of “Sally’s Song” from The Nightmare Before Christmas), another beautifully chilling original from Projekt’s own Unto Ashes, and an original song from Middle Pillar Presents recording artist The Mirror Reveals. Packaged in an environmentally friendly 5″ cardboard wallet. Cover Photo by Vaclav Jirasek (website).
