Molten LSD Remix on Forever Chemicals

Following last month’s release of the three-track single Molten / CPU Maxxing + Love Spirals Downwards Remix, the “molten [feat. bbsanii] (Love Spirals Downwards Remix)” is now featured on the full-length debut album by Blue Ringed Baby & Kamī, titled Forever Chemicals.

Released on November 7, 2025, via the London-based drum and bass label goddezz, the project is described as a necessary respite: “In an age of overstimulation, the duo’s debut LP creates space to breathe with a lush fusion of breakbeats, ambience, and glowing vocals.”

Mixmag Asia echoed this sentiment, calling the album “a fluid, dreamlike listen that highlights the duo’s balance of texture and emotion.” They noted that the remix section “widens the album’s palette, ranging from deep ambient jungle to Balearic trip hop cuts and warm, jazz-tinged bliss.”

Dubiks further praised the record, stating: “The album drifts between ambient jungle, trip-hop, art-pop and shoegaze, merging these forms into something luminous and fluid,” later writing that the Love Spirals Downwards remix “brings a lounge-inspired and ethereal sensibility that shaped the 90s ambient electronica era.”

Reflecting on the collaboration in a recent episode of the Chillin’ with Lovespirals podcast, Ryan Lum admitted that remixing “Molten” had a deeply nostalgic effect, taking him “back to a nineties headspace and making Flux.” He added, “I was, like, right there; I just have different tools and stuff now and more ideas because I’m older and wiser.”

Also featured on the album are remixes by Stone and Placid Angels—the moniker of John Beltran. A 30-year music veteran like Ryan, Beltran is renowned for his lush, melody-first ambient techno. The album also highlights the continued collaboration with Australian producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist bbsanii; she previously worked with Blue Ringed Baby on their 2024 single “Nihilistic Tendencies” prior to appearing on “Molten.”

The Call (VIP Mix) Single & Video Out Now

Ryan & Anji Lum revisit their 2022 single, “The Call,” with an even moodier and more atmospheric 2025 reboot. The new VIP Mix amplifies the song’s shoegaze and dream pop essence with a bigger, better guitar sound and more immersive ethereal vocal harmonies. The hook-laden guitar lead and spacey synths evoke The Cure, while the track’s melancholic yet driving energy harks back to Ryan’s early 90s work, as well as the duo’s 2018 album, ‘Life Goes On.’ Anji’s emotive vocals shift effortlessly between bold confidence and dreamy sincerity, adding depth to the song’s hypnotic pull. A nostalgic yet refreshed take, this version of “The Call” is a hauntingly beautiful throwback with a modern twist.

Lovespirals Release ‘Noumenon (Single)’

More than three decades on, Love Spirals Downwards founder, Ryan Lum, continues to reinvent himself, creating captivating music that merges disparate genres with his signature use of guitar and female vocals. With “Noumenon” the ethereal sounds of dream pop blend seamlessly with elements of ambient electronica and trap, showcasing Lum’s ability to transcend traditional musical boundaries. This new track features his wife Anji’s sensual yet airy vocals layered over skittering beats, dramatic guitar, and lush, atmospheric production, creating a sonic landscape that is both immersive and evocative. Lyrically “Noumenon” delves into themes of emotional disillusionment and the struggle to carry on amidst feelings of isolation and pain, encapsulated in the refrain “Love is just a noumenon.” This introspective depth complements the song’s rich sound, exemplifying the timeless quality of Lovespirals’ music and proving that Lum’s creative evolution is far from over.

“Noumenon” and “Noumenon (Drum n Bass Mix)” are available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and many other streaming music services worldwide, while the “Guitar Focus Instrumental Mix” is exclusive to the 3-song downloadable release on Bandcamp.

Additionally, Lovespirals have released two edits of a music video for the “Noumenon” Original Version and “Noumenon (Drum n Bass Mix)” on YouTube, as well as a new episode of their Chillin’ with Lovespirals podcast where they discuss the new single, plus the ‘Flux’ vinyl reissue and more band news. Lovespirals “The Call” Single Out Now

Lovespirals return to their darker hued roots with a new digital single. “The Call” shares some of the retro-90’s shoe gazer/dream pop vibes of their last full-length album, ‘Life Goes On,’ highlighting the lush guitar work Ryan Lum is known for. His soaring solo could easily have been plucked from the 1994, Ardor. Hypnotic bass and upbeat drums drive this melancholic song with an unexpected groove, while his wife Anji’s signature blend of earthy low voice and soaring ethereal harmonies lift your soul. Cover photo by Susan Jennings, the band’s longtime photographer who was actually behind the band being discovered by Projekt Records in 1991.

‘The Call (Single)’ was released July 1, 2022 on all digital platforms including BandcampSpotifyYouTube MusicAmazon Mp3TidalPandora and Apple Music.

Smile – Single Out Now

Lovespirals 3-song single, ‘Smile,’ is out NOW on all digital platforms including SpotifyApple Music, Amazon Mp3, TidalYouTubeDeezer and Bandcamp. In addition to the brand new title track, ‘Smile’ features the moody song “Why Not Today,” that was previously only available on Bandcamp. All three songs continue the band’s tradition of working new influences into their signature dream pop sound. While a much lighter offering that 2018’s Life Goes On, there’s still a good deal of melancholy amidst the deceptively light, retro-esque, jazz and blues inflected indie pop tunes. Cover art by Tom Pathe, longtime friend of bandleader, Ryan Lum, and photographer for the 1992 debut album, Idylls.

Projekt ‘Excelsis ~ A Dark Noel’ Remastered Release

Projekt is set to release the first-ever vinyl reissue of their classic album, ‘Excelsis ~ A Dark Noel.’ The most popular of their holiday themed various artist series, the original 1995 jewel box CD with 8-page booklet sold over 15,000 copies. This remastered album is currently available in a new six-panel digipak CD and digital download with two versions of a 140g weight color vinyl LP coming in November. There is a choice of either Aqua with White Splatter vinyl or Orchid with Purple and Grey Splatter vinyl limited to just 300 copies each.

Bandleader Ryan Lum returned to his master DAT tapes to find the original recording of Love Spirals Downwards’ 1995 recording of the Dr. Seuss classic, “Welcome Christmas,” from The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. The band’s shoegaze dream pop rendition has long been a fan favorite, so it’s great to hear a remastered version all these years later.

Tim, where are you now? CD & Digital Album

Projekt Records founder, Sam Rosenthal of Black Tape for a Blue Girl, just released a new album to commemorate what would have been Timothy Leary’s 100th birthday. Entitled Tim, where are you now?, this collaborative album features many special guests, including Lovespirals, Steve Roach, Erik Wøllo, Mike VanPortfleet of Lycia, Brian Viglione of The Dresden Dolls, Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth, Reggie Watts, and more. Be sure to check out “Starseed,” featuring classic ambient guitar leads from LSD band founder, Ryan Lum, as well as “PSY PHI love means High Fidelity” featuring both Ryan and Anji Lum alongside Byron Metcalf, Martin Bowes, and Rosenthal. Seems fitting to be part of an album dedicated to “the guru of LSD” created by the owner of the label that gave Love Spirals Downwards it’s start!

The CD is currently in preorder on Bandcamp, where you can alternatively purchase a digital download on the “Name Your Price” deal (meaning you can pay $0 if you want…), and it’s also available to stream on all digital platforms, including Apple MusicSpotify, and YouTube.
