Ryan and Anji’s September single —which dropped early as a Bandcamp Friday exclusive— now comes to streaming platforms.
From Bandcamp:
Shifting away from the breezy downtempo of September’s “So High,” “Strange Air” takes a darker turn just in time for Scorpio Season. Ryan and Anji Lum’s latest single is steeped in a mysterious atmosphere, melding dream pop with the smoky undertones of trip-hop and neo-soul. Anji Lum’s intimate vocals capture the magnetic, almost dangerous chemistry of a Mars-Venus connection that strikes from out of the blue. Weaving the sensual textures of Anji’s voice into Ryan’s beautifully emotive acoustic and electric guitar work, with a sprinkling of antique piano and light, jazzy drums, “Strange Air” conjures a numinous enchantment. Was that chance encounter a brush with destiny, or was it just a momentary desire?

Reviews:
“Certain encounters are born without having a precise reason. A place shared by chance, a person sitting a little too close, a smile that remains in the mind longer than expected. Out of that suddenly close space, ‘Strange Air’ was born.” ~ Sirene Podcast (translated from the original Italian text)
Karl Magi of AbsynthSpace said: “‘Strange Air’ begins with Ryan Lum’s guitar echoing into a mood of complete calm… Anji Lum has a strength of expression that pulls me into the feelings that swirl through and carry the song to a conclusion with chilled-out levitation.”
“Love Spirals Downwards delights us once again with the most dreamlike of unreal spaces… You already know what to expect: ethereal sounds, silky melodies that glide under an otherworldly atmosphere…” ~ Sound & Vision (translated from the original Spanish text)
